Team India completed an easy victory over the Australian side during the second T20I encounter played at the VCA Stadium Nagpur on September 23 (Friday). Skipper Rohit Sharma showed his excellent batting skills and was adjudged player of the match for his crucial knock.

Chasing 91 runs in eight overs, the skipper led his team from the front as he smoked 46* runs off just 20 balls including four fours and the same number of sixes. Meanwhile, former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar praised Rohit for his measured approach which helped his team in winning the game.

He was being a lot more selective: Gavaskar on Rohit Sharma

"What you saw with Rohit today was a measured approach. It wasn't anything where he was looking to defend, but he was being a lot more selective. And look, when he is playing those flick shots or the swivel pull shots, he is very good at that. Where he gets into trouble is where he is looking to play on the off-side, just tonks it up like that, that's where he hits the ball up in the air rather than into the stands. That's the only thing that he is going to watch out for," Sunil Gavaskar said after the conclusion of the second T20I in Nagpur. Gavaskar added that Rohit was sticking to his strengths and was not looking to play shots right away.

"Otherwise, when he is hitting it in his range, he has got absolutely no problems at all. That's what he should be looking to do. Today was such a measured innings. He was waiting, cutting the ball, pulling, he was not going bang straight away. That is the reason why he batted so brilliantly," Gavaskar explained.

With the series level at 1-1, both India and Australia will face each other in the final T20I encounter to be played at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on September 25 (Sunday).
