Former India batting coach Sanjay Bangar has praised Virat Kohli for his yet another classy innings after he anchored India to win the series against Australia. The final T20I, played at Hyderabad, was much anticipated as the match was the series decider of the three-match T20Is. Moreover, after India won the eight-over match in the second T20I, the momentum seemed to be on their side.
The Australians however, gave the Men in Blue a run for their money putting up a competitive total of 186 in the 20 overs. It was Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav’s 104-run partnership that helped them clinch the series.
Sanjay Bangar expresses delight on Kohli’s form
Former batting coach Sanjay Bangar expressed his delight on the recent outings Kohli has relished. After facing a rough couple of outings due to his inconsistent form, Kohli ensured his return to top form in the match against Australia. The right-handed batter had taken a break after a string of dismal performances.
Kohli decided to miss out on the Zimbabwe and West Indies series to rejuvenate himself and that seems to have paid off. His 63-run knock included four sixes and three fours which were enough to win the side the series 2-1.
"He is a champion batter. He has done that for India for such a long period of time. He knows he is in that phase where he is enjoying his game big time. He knows that the rhythm is back, the hunger is back, you can see that with the body language that he is displaying along with his mates. That's what you want to see in him, enjoying," Bangar told Star Sports.
"There was a phase where the pressure was getting to him, but after the break, the sense of enjoyment is back, the feeling of hitting a cricket ball is back in his game,” he added.
Now, the Indians play a tricky series against South Africa starting on the 28th of September. Moreover, as the T20 World Cup is just weeks away, Kohli will look to continue this form and maintain consistency.
