Bear Grylls, a popular British adventurer and TV personality, reckons that Indian cricketing star Virat Kohli should be on the show ‘Man vs Wild’. He said that the batter would be “amazing” on the TV Show as he claims that the latter has a heart of a lion and a kind spirit.
Grylls is one of the most popular media figures in India in recent times, following his outings with Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The former India captain also is an enthusiast of adventure sports and has also spoken about it publicly time and again.
Answering who he would like to have on his show, Grylls told Hindustan Times on Sunday, “Virat (cricketer Virat Kohli) would be amazing to adventure with — a true heart of a lion and kind spirit.”
Kohli rested from the Zimbabwe tour
Kohli is currently going through one of the leanest patches of his career. He has had the lowest batting average of around 25 for the calendar year with only four fifties. His previous lowest batting average for a year came in 2008, which was his debut year, of 31.80 in five innings. He has also gone over two years and 79 innings across formats without a century for India, which has been the longest century drought in his career.
Kohli, after a below-par Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), took some time off cricket in June and came back for the India tour of England in July. Throughout the tour, he played two innings in each of the formats and failed to go past the score of 20. He has been rested for the ongoing West Indies tour, which has three ODIs and five T20Is, and for the three ODIs in Zimbabwe.
The 33-year-old is likely to return to action on the field for the Asia Cup, which is set to commence later in the month in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). And only for the second time in the tournament’s history, the T20 format will be used.
