While the decision to include cricket in the 2028 Olympics is still a matter of discussion, CA has started its preparation to include the game in the 2032 Olympics. With Cricket being an integral part of their sporting culture, the organization committee wants the game to be a part of the Olympics. A lot however depends on ICC and the way they present cricket in the meeting to organize the game in 2028 in Los Angeles.

Like Birmingham managed to host cricket in the recently concluded Commonwealth Games, the host city can include games of their choice. They however need permission from the International Olympic Council (IOC) before they get the rights.

Like CA, the BCCI also wants cricket to be a part of the Olympics. They are backing ICC before their meeting with the organizers later in the month. With cricket, there are eight other sports that are trying to get a cut to be a part of the Olympics.

If Australia indeed manages to host the Olympics, that will be a massive boost for the game in Australia and in the rest of the world. The Olympics has the power to take the game to billions of people who are yet to discover cricket. More so, it will develop grassroots talents all over the world.

Australia express its desire to win at least three ICC trophies in the next five years

Australia is not planning to slow down as the defending champions of T20 cricket expressed their desire to win at least three ICC trophies across gender in the next five years. Their quest for success will begin later this year when they host the T20 World Cup.

Speaking about their target, CA chief executive Nick Hockley said, “This strategy contains both a vision and a clear plan for how we can achieve bold, transformative change while also meeting our core responsibilities,” as quoted by India Today.

He added, “I would like to thank everyone across the game for their passion and commitment as we work to unite and inspire everyone to love and play cricket, and in so doing make cricket a sport for all that makes Australians proud.”
