Sri Lanka are all set to take on Afghanistan in the first match of Asia Cup 2022 at the Dubai International Stadium in UAE on the 27th of August (Saturday). A strong squad was announced by Sri Lanka for the upcoming multi-nation tournament and Dasun Shanaka will lead the island nation. On the other hand, Afghanistan has a strong squad in terms of bowling depth and has invested in experienced campaigners like Shamiullah Shinwari.
The previous edition of the Asia Cup in 2018 proved to be a disastrous campaign for the Sri Lankan side as they faced an early exit in the group stages having lost to Bangladesh and Afghanistan. However, they have improved a lot in recent times and have developed a lot of match winners in the lineup with their recent historic ODI series win against Australia.
Afghanistan meanwhile, have played good cricket in recent times despite a T20I series loss to Ireland in the latter’s backyard and they can definitely cause any team an upset on their day. With match winners like Rashid Khan in the side, the skipper Mohammad Nabi will be looking to ensure that he brings the best out of the players in the upcoming assignment.
Here’s how the weather forecast looks in Dubai
The UAE conditions are usually quite hot and dry throughout the day and there aren’t any surprises on August 27. According to Accuweather reports, there are no possibilities of rain or precipitation for the game while the average temperature falls to 31 degrees Celsius at night. Since the game starts at 6 pm local time, the players will be able to cope with the temperature better as the match goes on.
The average wind speed will be 24 km/hr while the average humidity is expected to be 31 percent. The bowlers will be offered a little bit of swing due to the effect of the lights in the stadium while the dew factor might not come into play.
